{9} The Gallery Presents Mark Vinci: "Unit Control" For September First Friday

Arizona-based Artist Uses Dynamic Nuance to Pierce Media Bombardment

PHOENIX - Arizonar -- {9} the Gallery is proud to present the dynamic work of collage artist and painter Mark Vinci in a featured exhibition, Unit Control, opening First Friday, September 6th, 6-10 PM at 1229 Grand Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Similar to the Italian futurist painters of the early 20th Century, Vinci uses compositional turbulence to create images of linear motion. The Artist's integration of popular culture is seen as the hyper absorption of commercial media. Vinci uses dynamism to processes the glut of modern stimuli at the speed of light.

"My work is dynamic visual abstraction about urban movement...transient visual moments captured at high speed, snippets and fragments framed and defined by the cityscape, quickly forgotten, yet leaving a residual imprint that is and unconscious distillation of our collective experience." - Mark Vinci

This show marks the beginning of Vinci's three-month residency with {9} The Gallery.

Mark Vinci is a recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. He's been painting for over 30 years, the last 23 of those in Phoenix, Arizona. His work is shown in Los Angeles and Phoenix. Trained at Kutztown University, PA, and the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, Vinci spent twenty years in the television graphics industry, working as a broadcast designer for news programming at CBS in New York, CNN in Atlanta, and ABC in Phoenix.  He is the recipient of four Emmy's for Broadcast News Graphics.  Vinci was also a two-term board member of Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and contributing artist to Phoenix Art Museum-Contemporary Forum.
