Phoenix, AZ ~ In a surprising move, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona has taken legislative action to repeal the observance of March 31st as César Chávez Day. This decision comes after recent revelations about the controversial figure, which have deeply troubled the governor.
Governor Hobbs signed HB2072, officially repealing the holiday and releasing a statement explaining her reasoning. She expressed her concern for the victims and all those affected by the news about Chávez, stating that she could not in good conscience continue to recognize him with a holiday.
