PHOENIX - Arizonar -- The Arizona Technology Council is proud to share that the United States-Mexico Foundation for Science has appointed of Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Council and SciTech Institute, to its board of governors.

"The Foundation's work reflects a shared commitment to building a resilient, innovation-driven North America," said Zylstra. "I'm honored to join an organization with such a rich legacy of connecting science and technology leaders across borders to strengthen competitiveness and create sustainable growth."

The Foundation is more commonly known as FUMEC (Fundación México-Estados Unidos para la Ciencia), a binational, non-governmental organization created to promote cross-border collaboration in science, technology and innovation. FUMEC works with public and private partners across North America to strengthen regional competitiveness through programs that support advanced manufacturing, clean technology, semiconductors, aerospace and education.

As a long-time advocate for Arizona's innovation economy, Zylstra has been instrumental in fostering public-private partnerships that expand high-tech workforce development, STEM education and cross-border collaboration. His appointment to FUMEC's board further reinforces Arizona's strategic role in advancing North American innovation and supply chain integration.

Its impact spans key sectors including semiconductors, Industry 4.0, health, education, aerospace and agrifood, helping establish the United States and Mexico as one of the world's most inclusive and competitive regions.
