City of Mesa Special Recall Election Called

~ The City of Mesa has announced that a Special Recall Election will take place on November 4, 2025. The purpose of this election is to allow the voters of Council District Two to decide whether or not to recall their current councilmember, Julie Spilsbury, for the remainder of her term.

According to the press release issued by the city, voters will have the opportunity to elect a new representative for Council District Two for the remainder of the term ending in January 2029. This could potentially be Spilsbury or another candidate.

The election will be administered by Maricopa County Elections and will be conducted as a ballot-by-mail election. This means that eligible voters in District Two will receive their ballots in the mail and must return them by October 28, 2025.

Important dates for this Special Recall Election include the candidate filing period from August 6 to September 5, 2025 and the voter registration cutoff on October 6, 2025. Ballots will be mailed out on October 8, with November 4 being designated as the official Special Election Day.
