New Adaptive Running Chair Initiative Expands Race Participation for Individuals with Physical Disabilities
PEORIA, Ariz. - Arizonar -- The 8th Annual PTSD Awareness 5K Run/Walk will return to Copper Hills Church on Saturday, June 6, 2026, bringing together first responders and military personnel, families, survivors, advocates, and community supporters for a powerful morning dedicated to awareness, healing, and hope.
Hosted by Comprehensive Fitness and Consultation (CFC Heroes), the annual event raises awareness for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among first responders and military members while generating support for critical mental health resources through the First Responder PTS Foundation.
This year's race introduces a significant new initiative: the sponsorship of an adaptive running chair by the First Responder PTS Foundation. The addition of the chair will allow individuals with physical limitations and disabilities to actively participate in the event experience for the first time, reinforcing the organization's commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community connection.

"Our mission has always been bigger than the race itself," said Dr. Amy White. "This event creates a space where people feel seen, supported, and united. Adding the running chair allows even more members of our community to cross the finish line together." Race organizers say the event serves as both a tribute and a call to action—honoring those lost to PTSD, supporting individuals currently battling its effects, and celebrating those continuing their healing journey.
