Frank Stührenberg to hand over the role of Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Contact to Dirk Görlitzer

BLOMBERG, Germany, June 24, 2024 ~ Phoenix Contact, a leading global technology company, has announced that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Frank Stührenberg, will be retiring at the end of December 2024 after 33 years with the company. He will be succeeded by Dirk Görlitzer, who has been serving as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2020. To ensure a smooth transition, Stührenberg and Görlitzer will share the role of CEO starting from July 1. Stührenberg will also continue to be associated with Phoenix Contact as the chairman of the supervisory board for their newly founded company, Phoenix Contact E-Mobility Holding SE.

The announcement was made by Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Eberhard Veit, chairman of the advisory board of Phoenix Contact, who expressed his satisfaction with this internal succession arrangement. He stated that this decision ensures maximum stability and continuity in the company's management team. Veit also acknowledged Stührenberg's significant contribution to the global growth and success of Phoenix Contact over many years. He also praised his role in shaping the company's culture and direction in collaboration with the advisory board and shareholders.

Stührenberg, born in 1963, holds a degree in economics with a focus on business systems. He joined Phoenix Contact in Blomberg in 1992 and has held various senior sales positions throughout his career. In 2006, he was appointed to the Group Executive Board and has been serving as CEO since January 2015.

Görlitzer, who studied electrical engineering, has been with Phoenix Contact since 1994. He has held several positions within the company including product manager and Head of Business Area Industrial Components and Electronics (ICE). Currently, he is a member of the Group Executive Board.

Dr. Frank Eisert, shareholder and member of the advisory board at Phoenix Contact, highlighted that their family business is characterized by a strong sense of togetherness and responsibility among top management. He praised Görlitzer's technical and entrepreneurial success, as well as his embodiment of the company's values such as trust, respect, partnership, and reliability. Eisert also mentioned Görlitzer's passion for their future vision of the All Electric Society and his commitment to continue developing Phoenix Contact's strategic direction.

After Stührenberg's retirement, the Group Executive Board will consist of current members Torsten Janwlecke (COO), Ulrich Leidecker (COO), Frank Possel-Dölken (CDO), Axel Wachholz (CFO), and Dirk Görlitzer (CEO).
