Casa Grande, AZ ~ In a momentous event, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona celebrated the first Alternative Designation of Assured Water Supply (ADAWS) in Pinal County. The program, which aims to conserve water and increase housing supply, was launched at the Casa Grande City Hall with the presence of regional leaders and Arizona Water Company.
Under Governor Hobbs' leadership, the ADAWS program has been developed to assist communities in achieving 100-year Assured Water Supply protections. This achievement is a result of years of hard work and dedication towards policies that safeguard Arizona's water supplies.
Governor Hobbs expressed her excitement about the ADAWS Designation, stating that it is a critical step towards building homes, growing the economy, and protecting water for future generations. She also acknowledged Pinal County's long wait for water solutions and praised Arizona for its ability to overcome challenges and deliver real results for its communities.

Arizona Water Company President & Chief Operating Officer Fred Schneider also spoke at the event, highlighting how this designation will provide certainty to communities and support economic opportunities in Pinal County. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between local leaders and Governor Hobbs in securing renewable water supplies while protecting ratepayers.
Mike Kern, President of Communities Southwest, expressed his gratitude towards Governor Hobbs for her leadership and support in achieving this milestone. He stated that the ADAWS designation not only protects groundwater resources but also brings regulatory stability to builders and businesses in central Pinal County. This achievement will allow Communities Southwest to deliver much-needed housing supply while preserving natural resources for future generations.
