Phoenix, AZ ~ Phoenix, AZ - Arizona residents will soon have the opportunity to save on energy costs and improve their home's efficiency thanks to the launch of Efficiency Arizona, a statewide program aimed at promoting clean energy and reducing utility bills. This initiative, spearheaded by Governor Katie Hobbs and her team at the Arizona Governor's Office of Resiliency, will be rolled out in phases over the next few months.

The first phase of Efficiency Arizona, which is set to begin this fall, will focus on replacing air conditioning units with heat pumps for eligible residents facing extreme heat. This partnership with Wildfire and other regional community action agencies aims to provide financial relief to households that meet income eligibility requirements (below 80% AMI and 80-150% AMI).

Governor Hobbs expressed her excitement for this program, stating that "Arizona is no stranger to the heat" and that this initiative will help lower costs and keep residents safe in extreme temperatures. She also emphasized the importance of building a resilient and sustainable state.

She highlighted how this program not only provides financial relief but also contributes to broader goals of environmental sustainability and resilience.

Efficiency Arizona will be overseen in partnership with Resource Innovations, a leading provider of energy efficiency programs and services. The Office of Resiliency and Resource Innovations will work closely with local community-based organizations, utilities, and industry associations across the state to ensure the success of this program.

Lauren Casentini, CEO of Resource Innovations, shared her organization's goal of making energy efficiency accessible to all Arizonans. She believes that Efficiency Arizona will provide residents with the tools they need to lower their energy bills and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Kelly McGowan, Executive Director of Wildfire, emphasized the importance of this partnership in preventing indoor heat-related deaths. She stated that since 2016, Wildfire has been working with Arizona's Community Action Agencies to provide critical A/C repair and replacement services to low-income households. Now, with the partnership of the Arizona Governor's Office of Resiliency and Resource Innovations, they hope to continue addressing this crucial issue and providing resources to vulnerable Arizonans.
