Phoenix, AZ ~ Phoenix, AZ - In a major win for Arizona's semiconductor industry, the state has secured the hosting rights for North America's premier microelectronics exhibition and conference, SEMICON West. The news comes as Arizona continues to emerge as a leader in the industry, surpassing competitors like California and Texas in creating high-quality jobs.
The announcement was made by the Arizona Commerce Authority, stating that Phoenix will host the conference on a rotating basis starting in 2025. This marks a significant shift from the event's previous location in San Francisco for the past 50 years.
Governor Katie Hobbs expressed her excitement about the news, stating that it is a clear indication of Arizona's potential to build the economy of the future. She highlighted the state's strong and growing workforce, dynamic business ecosystem, and unparalleled quality of life as key factors in attracting such a prestigious event.
The SEMICON West conference is expected to bring over 10,000 attendees and hundreds of exhibitors to Phoenix in October. The event will also be held in 2027 and 2029 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

This announcement adds to Arizona's recent successes in the semiconductor industry, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s construction of a factory complex in north Phoenix - the state's largest private investment ever - and Intel's expansion of its complex in Chandler.
The U.S. semiconductor industry has seen a resurgence since the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act in 2022, with Arizona playing an increasingly important role. According to a report by the Semiconductor Industry Association, Arizona has secured 19 out of 83 new projects announced recently.
Since 2020, Arizona has won over 40 semiconductor expansions, resulting in more than $102 billion in capital investment and over 15,700 direct jobs. This growth has also been recognized nationally as Maricopa County was named the best county in the U.S. for company expansions, private investment, and job creation.
With the upcoming SEMICON West conference, Arizona is solidifying its position as a leader in the semiconductor industry and a top destination for businesses looking to expand. The state's continued success in this sector is a testament to its strong business climate and commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth.
