Impact of U.S. Supreme Court on ASCs

GILBERT, Ariz. - Arizonar -- The time has never been better to become part of an ASC. On June 28, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case regarding the 2019 Outpatient Prospective Payment System Rule. "This decision presents physicians with a singular opportunity to provide patients the care they need on a level playing field," says Dr. Joel Rainwater, Chief Medical Officer, Comprehensive Surgical Care (CSC). "Physicians now have a choice when it comes to where they deliver care."

The site-neutral payment proposal means that ASCs and hospitals will be on equal footing when it comes to reimbursement.  "Physicians can now participate in the decisions that help lower the cost of healthcare across the board," says Rainwater. "This is where the efficiencies in staffing models will play to ASC strengths and add to their competitive edge."
