~ Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa is gearing up to support housing and community activities through federal and local funding. A kick-off meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 57 E. First St., upper-level Chambers from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This meeting is open to all agencies interested in applying for funding that primarily benefits low- and moderate-income residents and helps prevent or eliminate slum or blight.

The meeting will cover important topics such as funding sources, eligibility requirements, City Council priorities, and training on the ZoomGrants application software. Non-profit organizations and affordable housing developers are eligible to apply for these funds.

For the fiscal year 2026/2027, Mesa anticipates the following amounts will be available:

- CDBG (Community Development Block Grant)

- Public Service: $275,656

- Rehabilitation (set-aside for City projects): $2,389,016

- Office of Homeless Solutions (set-aside for City projects): $275,656

- ESG (Emergency Solutions Grant): $340,016

- HOME (TBRA, Rental Development, New Construction, Acquisition/Rehab): $6,618,403.97

- HOME Investment Partnerships CHDO (Community Housing Development Organization): $361,121

- Human Services/ABC: $651,663

Funding for Human Services programs comes from the City's General Fund and the A Better Community (ABC) program. The ABC program receives donations from residents through utility bill contributions. These funds support services that promote community safety, encourage self-sufficiency and expand economic and social opportunities for residents.

Agencies interested in applying for funding must submit their applications by Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. The application process schedule can be viewed online. Funding recommendations will be reviewed by the Mesa City Council next spring, following a 30-day public comment period.
