~ Mesa, AZ - The city of Mesa has shattered its Hydration Donation Campaign goal thanks to record-breaking participation from residents and businesses. The campaign, which ran from May 6 to September 27, raised an impressive 1,014,160 bottles of water, surpassing the initial goal of 700,000. This total also breaks the previous record of 836,154 bottles set in 2015.
Since its inception in 2007, the Hydration Donation Campaign has seen a significant increase in donations each year. In its first year, the campaign collected just over 50,000 bottles. This year's record-breaking number is a testament to the generosity and compassion of the Mesa community.
Mayor John Giles expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from residents and businesses during this year's brutally hot summer months. "Getting a record number of bottles during record-breaking heat for the Hydration Donation Campaign shows that Mesa is a community of caring people who are willing to come together to support a tremendous cause," said Mayor Giles.

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department, United Food Bank, Mesa Chamber of Commerce, Paz de Cristo, Resurrection Street Ministry, A New Leaf and several city non-profit and business partners all played a crucial role in collecting water donations for those in need.
Jason Reed, President and CEO of United Food Bank, expressed his appreciation for the incredible support received during this year's campaign. "Thanks to the generosity of our residents, businesses, and community organizations," said Reed. "We didn't just meet our goal - we exceeded it."
Several highlights from this year's campaign include a donation of 36 pallets of water by five organizations (Nexus, Global Roofing, Mesa Rotary,Tan Hau and Clayco/NTT), which pushed the final total over one million bottles. The Data Center Challenge issued by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce also made a significant impact with over $37,000 donated, equivalent to 336,364 bottles of water.
The Mesa Chamber of Commerce coordinated numerous donations throughout the summer, including a donation of 18 pallets (approximately 39,560 bottles) from Superstition Springs Elementary and 10 pallets (21,980 bottles) from Google Fiber. Other businesses with large donations include Walmart (38,400 bottles), Niagara (35,500 bottles), Parker and Sons (32,800 bottles), DPR Construction (18,400 bottles), and Northrop Grumman (15,500 bottles).

"We are grateful for the Data Center community and so many Chamber members and friends who said yes when asked!"
The water collected through Mesas Hydration Donation Campaign will be distributed by United Food Bank to numerous non-profit organizations across the valley, including Resurrection Street Ministry, Mesa United Way, Paz de Cristo and A New Leaf-East Valley Mens Center.
