The City's General Plan is updated every ten years as mandated by the State of Arizona. In addition to attending an open house event, residents can also participate in the process online through March 4 at tomorrowsmesa.com.

The draft of the General Plan is a result of extensive community input from approximately ten thousand people who participated through surveys and public events during the year of2023. The General Plan focuses on three core values: The Land, The People, and The Economy. It is a comprehensive plan that takes into account the needs and desires of the community for a sustainable and prosperous future.

If approved by Mesa City Council in mid-2024, the 2050 General Plan will be put to a vote by residents during the November 2024 election.
