~ Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa is gearing up to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month with a free event on Saturday, May 2. The event, titled "Mesa Through Time - Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future," will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Post located at 26 N. Macdonald.
The City's Historic Preservation Office and Historic Preservation Board are inviting all residents to join in the festivities and celebrate Mesa's rich history while also commemorating America's 250 years of existence. One of the highlights of the event will be an awards ceremony honoring the winners of the City's Historic Essay and Visual Arts Contest.
Students who participated in the contest will be recognized for their outstanding work, with first, second, and third-place winners being awarded in each category. This year's visual arts contest also featured a group project category, with one winning team being selected from groups of three to six students. All participants will receive a certificate of participation for their efforts.

In addition to the awards ceremony, attendees can also enjoy a backyard BBQ setting complete with hot dogs and hamburgers. It promises to be a fun-filled day for all ages.
