CycloMesa Festival ~ The City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is gearing up for Valley Bike Month with two exciting events. On Saturday, April 1, the annual CycloMesa Festival will take place at the Plaza at Mesa City Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Mesa. Festivalgoers can enjoy BMX Freestyle stunt shows, Roller Derby demos, spin art using pedal-power, a scavenger hunt, tours of ASU MIX Center, live music from local bands, a rock wall and more. Special kids programming includes a bike rodeo hosted by Phoenix Children's Hospital, giant inflatables, facepainting and a bicycle safety storytime presented by Mesa Public Library.
On Wednesday April 19th Bike to Work Day will be held in Mesa to encourage commuters to bike to work (or wherever they need to go). The event helps save money, improve health and lower stress levels while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. This year's celebration is open to anyone who lives, works or enjoys spending time in Mesa. The first 300 people who RSVP and check in at the event will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by local artist Jayarr Steiner and a voucher for breakfast that morning. Attendees can also enjoy music from a local DJ, live painting and complimentary coffee as well as the Green Expo with helpful tips for Earth Day on Saturday April 22nd.
