~ Mesa City Council Appoints Scott Butler as New City Manager
The Mesa City Council has unanimously selected Scott Butler to serve as the new City Manager, succeeding Christopher J. Brady who announced his retirement in January after nearly two decades of transformative leadership. Butler, who has been serving as the Assistant City Manager since July 2022, brings with him almost 21 years of experience with the City of Mesa.
In his new role, Butler will be responsible for guiding the city through its next chapter and ensuring its continued success. "Mesa is positioned for an incredible future. I'm honored to have been selected to help guide our city through its next chapter," said Butler. "My approach will balance fiscal discipline with strategic innovation, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional services while developing the economic vitality our community deserves."
Butler's extensive experience with the city includes serving as Deputy City Manager from 2015 to 2022 and Director of Government Relations from 2008 to 2015. He has also overseen critical departments such as Police, Fire and Medical, Municipal Court, Transportation, Transit and Falcon Field.
