Mesa Enhances Safety and Connectivity with Hampton Avenue Upgrades

Trending...
~ Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa has announced plans to begin safety and roadway improvements along Hampton Avenue between Crismon Road and Signal Butte Road on October 13th. The project, which is expected to be completed by late November, aims to make the area safer and more accessible for all modes of transportation.

According to Cassie Robles, spokesperson for the City of Mesa Transportation Department, the upgrades will include a new pedestrian crossing with a raised median to improve safety for those crossing the street. Additionally, bike lane striping and signage will be added to enhance connectivity for cyclists. The pavement will also be resurfaced and durable epoxy markings will be applied to extend the life of the roadway and improve visibility.

The construction will occur in phases, starting with pavement resurfacing followed by lane striping. The final phase will involve the installation of the pedestrian crossing and raised median. While temporary lane closures are expected along sections of Hampton Avenue, detours will be clearly marked and access to neighborhoods and businesses will remain open throughout the project.

The decision to prioritize this corridor for improvements was based on its location near schools, neighborhoods, and community hubs as well as its need for pavement maintenance. These upgrades align with Mesa's Safer Streets initiative which focuses on projects that protect pedestrians, support active transportation, and improve traffic flow citywide.
