~ Mesa's annual Hydration Donation Campaign is facing a critical shortage of water as the demand for bottles of water in the community has reached an all-time high. In response, the City of Mesa has announced two drop-off events to make it easier for residents to donate cases of water.
The first event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Mesa Convention Center, located at 263 N. Center St., between Buildings B and C. The second event will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Mesa Arts Center, located at 1 E. Main St., in the south parking lot.
Since the start of the campaign on May 6, over 360,000 bottles of water have been donated, but this is only halfway towards the goal of collecting 700,000 bottles of water. The City is urging residents to donate bottles of water or make online contributions to help those in need, particularly those who are unsheltered and facing extreme conditions during this record-breaking summer.

Mayor John Giles expressed his gratitude for the generosity shown by Mesa residents and businesses through their support for this campaign. He emphasized that even small contributions can make a big difference in saving lives during these dangerous heat waves.
The Hydration Donation Campaign has set up 21 drop-off locations throughout Mesa where people can donate water. A list of these locations can be found on their website at www.mesaaz.gov/H2OMesa. Cash donations are also accepted.
Jason Reed, President and CEO of United Food Bank, expressed his appreciation for the donations received so far but stressed that there is still a long way to go in meeting the needs of the community. He urged businesses and residents who are able to help to do so now as every donation counts towards saving lives.
This summer, the campaign has received significant donations from various businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents. The Mesa Chamber of Commerce donated 18 pallets of water, equivalent to approximately 39,560 bottles. Google Fiber and Norris Air also made substantial contributions of 10 pallets (21,980 bottles) and three pallets (6,500 bottles) respectively.
