Mesa is Moving Ahead with Plans to Improve EV Charging Citywide

Trending...
~ Mesa, Arizona - The City of Mesa has announced the release of a highly anticipated Request for Proposal (RFP) aimed at improving the accessibility and convenience of its electric vehicle (EV) charging network for all residents. The project, which has a total budget of $14,873,215, will add a minimum of 48 new vehicle charging ports. This includes a required 20% non-reimbursable local match of $2,974,644. The RFP is in response to a $11.8 million award through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Laws Charging and Fueling (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program.

Currently, Mesa has 49 public EV charging stations with 118 ports serving over 3,200 City residents who drive electric vehicles. With the CFI grant funds, the city plans to increase the number of charging ports by 40%. This will be achieved by strategically deploying additional public charging options across the city based on needs identified through Mesas Community Electric Vehicle Action Plan.
