~ The City of Mesa Office of Economic Development (Mesa OED) has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in promoting economic development. The international Economic Development Council (IEDC) has awarded Mesa OED with the 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Gold Award for its Mesa Business Builder (MBB) Program in the category of Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development. This prestigious award will be presented to Mesa OED at the IEDC 2024 Annual Conference in Denver on September 15-18.
The MBB Program, which was created by Mesa OED in 2021, is a strategic initiative aimed at supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship in the city. It offers nine programs and services that are divided into three main areas: Information and Communications, Training and Education, and Specialty Spaces. The ultimate goal of the MBB Program is to enhance competitiveness, build resilience, and encourage growth among small businesses and entrepreneurs in Mesa.
Mesa Mayor John Giles expressed his pride in the economic development team's work in building this program and the positive results it has achieved for the city's small business community.
