~ Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa is once again teaming up with United Food Bank to ensure that families in need can enjoy a holiday meal. The annual Turkey Tuesday frozen turkey and cash donation drive will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Mesa Convention Center North Parking Lot from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Mayor Mark Freeman expressed his gratitude for the community's support, stating, "Mesa has always been a city built on community, service and shared purpose. With our 17-year Turkey Tuesday tradition, we're once again stepping up together to ensure every family in our city can enjoy a meaningful Thanksgiving."
Since its inception, Mesa's Turkey Tuesday has been a huge success, with an estimated 20,000 turkeys and $200,000 in donations collected over the years. This year's goal is to collect 2,000 turkeys and $20,000 in cash donations.
To help reach this goal, event sponsors Desert Financial Credit Union, State Farm, and the Arizona Cardinals have pledged to match up to $75,000 in monetary donations. This generous contribution will go towards providing holiday meals for families in need this November.
