Mesa: Resident's Guide to Community and Civic Engagement

The 90 ~ The City of Mesa's Community Engagement team is taking steps to empower and educate neighborhood leaders through a free class called the Residents Guide to Mesa. This class, which will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Mesa City Council Chambers, aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their communities.

From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., participants will learn about the inner workings of City government and how they can play a more active role in decision making. The class will also delve into the impact of serving on City advisory and nonprofit community boards, as well as how to secure a position on one of these boards. Due to limited seating, interested individuals are required to register for the class.

In addition to this class, the Community Engagement team is also offering a series of virtual seminars called Residents Guide to Homeowners Associations. These monthly seminars cover various topics related to Arizona HOAs and condos and are held on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The upcoming seminars include "What is a Community Association and Secrets of Successful Associations" on Aug. 20, "The ABCs of Enforcement for HOAs and Condos" on Sept. 17, and "Legislative Update, Federal Laws and Preventing Crime and Limiting Liability in Community Associations" on Oct. 15.

Interested residents can find more information about these classes and register online. By providing these resources, the City's Community Engagement team hopes to empower residents with the knowledge they need to make positive changes in their communities.
