Mesa Unveils Annual Report Highlighting Strategic Economic Growth and Future Vision

~ Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa's Office of Economic Development (OED) has released its annual report for Fiscal Year 2024-2025, highlighting the city's significant achievements and reaffirming its commitment to the City Council's vision and economic development goals. Titled "The View from Here," the report showcases Mesa's strategic vision and forward momentum, as well as the city's efforts to attract new businesses and support existing ones.

One of the major highlights in the report is OED's success in completing 47 company relocation and expansion projects in FY 24-25. These projects totaled over five million square feet and created 3,370 jobs with an average salary of over $65,000 annually. This achievement demonstrates Mesa's appeal as a destination for high-wage employers.

The first year of Mesa's Retail Attraction Strategy was also a great success, with OED ramping up marketing efforts to promote retail options in the city. This resulted in more than 30 new prospects and the successful location of six retailers. Additionally, several new retail-focused development projects were initiated.

The city also saw significant progress in its development projects. Construction began on Medina Station and its restaurant row, while Cannon Beach and Revel Surf Park opened their doors to visitors. The groundbreaking for Arizona's first Tempo by Hilton hotel at Gallery Park also took place during this fiscal year.

Another major accomplishment was the transformation of the 80-acre site that once housed Fiesta Mall into a vibrant mixed-use urban space in the Fiesta District. This redevelopment project is expected to bring new life to the area.

OED also made strides in supporting existing businesses through 137 in-depth business visits. These conversations with companies representing over 15,750 jobs with an average wage of $68,000 annually highlight the city's commitment to fostering high-quality jobs.

The Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program awarded 151 businesses with nearly 2,680 hours of customized consulting services valued at over $278,000. Additionally, the Mesa Business Builder @ The Studios opened its doors to more than 5,400 attendees and visitors in its first year. OED staff conducted over 150 tours and hosted 64 small business workshops and events.
