MMRG Notifies Patients of Cybersecurity Incident

TEMPE, Ariz. ~ Tempe, Arizona - Medical Management Resource Group, L.L.C. (MMRG) has recently announced a cybersecurity incident that has affected the information of patients associated with ophthalmology practices. MMRG, also known as American Vision Partners, provides administrative services to these practices.

The incident was first detected on November 14, 2023 when unauthorized activity was found on certain parts of MMRG's network. The company took immediate action by isolating the impacted systems and launching an investigation with the help of leading third-party cybersecurity firms. Law enforcement was also notified.

MMRG takes the security of patients' data seriously and is continuously taking preventative measures to safeguard their systems. However, on or around December 6, 2023, it was determined that personal information of patients from the relevant practices had been obtained by the unauthorized party.

The information accessed may have included names, contact information, dates of birth, medical records such as services received and medications prescribed. In some cases, Social Security numbers and insurance information may have also been compromised.

MMRG is currently in the process of notifying affected patients and has recommended steps they can take to protect their information. This includes monitoring credit reports and reviewing account statements. The company is also offering credit monitoring and identity protection services for two years at no cost to qualified individuals.

A dedicated call center has been set up for affected individuals at 1-844-725-0135 between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).
