Mayor Mark Freeman expressed his gratitude for spring training and its impact on Mesa's economy. "Spring training holds a special place in the hearts of our city's fans and it also brings business to our hotels, restaurants, bars and stores," he said. "The Cubs and As playing a combined total of 30 games here generated almost one-fifth of the entire Cactus League attendance. This highlights Mesa's popularity as a destination for spring baseball enthusiasts and those looking to experience all that our city has to offer."
Deputy City Manager Marc Heirshberg also praised the partnership between the city and the Cubs and As. "The City works closely with these teams not just during spring training, but throughout the year," he said. "They appreciate Mesa's commitment to providing top-notch training facilities for their players and creating a first-class experience for fans attending the games."
