The City is hosting three virtual community meetings to assist with developing its HOME-ARP Allocation Plan, a required planning document for the use of federal funds to tackle housing instability issues:

Homelessness: Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Affordable Housing: Thursday, Jan. 19, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Community Services: Thursday, Jan. 19, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The community meetings will provide background on HOME-ARP and include discussions on topics to explore community needs, existing resources and ways to address gaps for our most vulnerable residents. Registration is required for the virtual meetings.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded Mesa $5.6 through the HOME-ARP program to assist homeless individuals or households, at risk of homelessness; fleeing domestic violence, sex trafficking or sexual assault; or otherwise facing housing instability as vulnerable populations.

HOME-ARP is funded under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and is administered through HUD's HOME Investment Partnerships Programs (HOME). Mesa can use the funds for four eligible activities:

Production or preservation of affordable housing
Tenant-based rental assistance
Supporting services, homeless prevention services and housing counseling
Purchase and development of non-congregate shelter

An online community survey is also available to help get input on housing and community service needs. The survey will be available until Feb. 2.
