SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Arizonar -- Royse Contemporary presents "ROOTED: In the Presence of Earth", a solo exhibition of botanical mixed media and poetry from artist Kim Walker. Walker utilizes abstract forms, real plant matter, and original verse to invite reflection on nature's presence, beauty, guidance, and quiet wisdom. This exhibition pulls works from the artist's various series, showcasing a wide range collection of works centering on her mixed media paintings and sculptures.
When asked about her work Walker explained "When you look at my artwork, please realize you are looking at not only paint, but also actual botanic elements from nature." She goes on to say "my paintings are intended to be a reverent reflection of the beauty and inspiration and metaphoric lessons from nature. I collect and press natural elements and incorporate them in my art." Each work is accompanied by an original poem that the artist has written. Walker hand-writes the poems on the back of each composition, Walker explains that it is her "further expression of her gratitude for the profundity of these amazing gifts."
