Universal Technical Institute Recognized for Efforts to Train America's Veterans for In-Demand Careers

PHOENIX, March 14, 2023 ~ Universal Technical Institute (UTI), a leading provider of transportation, skilled trades and energy education programs, has once again earned the Military Friendly® School designation. This award is given to the top colleges, universities, community colleges and trade schools in the country that work to embrace military students and dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and the workforce. UTI's campuses in Avondale, Ariz., Sacramento, Rancho Cucamonga and Long Beach, Calif., Dallas and Houston, Texas, Lisle, Ill. and Exton, Penn., along with NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, N.C. and Motorcycle & Marine Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Fla. were among the schools awarded for 2022-2023.

UTI first began earning the Military Friendly designation in 2011. The award is based on student retention and graduation rates as well as job placement rates among other criteria. Most UTI campuses are outfitted with a veteran-friendly space and UTI offers the Salute to Service Grant which gives eligible veterans a 10% tuition discount.

In partnership with UTI BMW & Premier Truck Group offer on-base training programs allowing active service members to train for careers as automotive or diesel technicians near the end of their military service contract. Marco Justiniano a U.S Marine Corps veteran & graduate of BMW MSTEP with UTI said "Universal Technical Institute & BMW provided me high quality training & I'm now working as a tech at BMW of Murrieta here in Southern California."

The Military Friendly® School designation was evaluated using both public data sources & responses from a proprietary survey conducted by Viqtory. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning special awards for going above standard. Final ratings were determined by combining institution's survey scores with assessment of institution's ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention Graduation Job Placement Loan Repayment Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) & Loan Default rates for all students & specifically student veterans1
