~ Mesa Public Library has announced that published author Brooke Bessesen will be the next Writer in Residence at their Red Mountain Library location. Her most recent book, "Vaquita: Science, Politics, and Crime in the Sea of Cortez," received international acclaim. She has also authored other books for both children and adults, including "Arizona Highways Wildlife Guide" and "Look Who Lives in the Ocean."

Bessesen's expertise and experience make her an ideal candidate for this role. She has previously taught at ASU's Piper Writers Studio and has been honored with a Celebrate Literacy Award from the International Literacy Association, a Glyph Award, Judy Goddard Award, and a nomination for the Grand Canyon Reader Award.
