In a flagship holiday broadcast on The Parent Tap with host Ryan McDonough, Bark Technologies Chief Parent Officer Titania Jordan explains why Apple's parental controls fall short & shares the 3 non-negotiable settings to configure before Christmas
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Arizonar -- On a new flagship episode of The Parent Tap, host Ryan McDonough sits down with Titania Jordan, Chief Parent Officer of Bark Technologies, to deliver a holiday tech safety roadmap.
Jordan warns parents that factory-default devices leave children vulnerable, advising families to unbox and configure gifts before wrapping them. Key takeaways include establishing zero-tech bedrooms, mandatory download approvals, and avoiding standard iPhones.
The release arrives as The Parent Tap surpasses 80,200 lifetime views and 2,057 subscribers, solidifying its position as a fast-growing independent broadcast for digital defense and youth safety.

"If there's a phone, tablet, or gaming console under your tree this year, the most important part of that gift isn't the device—it's the first hour after it comes out of the box," said McDonough.
During the 19-minute broadcast, Jordan warns parents against gifting standard iPhones to children and urges families to unbox and configure any connected gift before wrapping it.
"If you are going with an iPhone, they're not ready," Jordan said during the interview. "If you're going with a safer smartphone for kids like a Bark Phone—or honestly, there are some people out there that try to compete with us, and I'd rather you pick one of them than an iPhone. Period. Because Apple's parental controls still suck."
Rather than waiting until Christmas morning when children are eager to use their new devices, Jordan advises parents to take proactive steps ahead of time: "If it is a gift, you're going to need to unwrap it, do some stuff to it, wrap it back up."
