Drawing on her own relocation experience and work with buyers moving from across the U.S. and abroad, luxury real estate advisor Irina Ahdoot shares the benefits and trade-offs of calling Arizona home.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Arizonar -- More than a decade after making Arizona home herself, luxury real estate advisor Irina Ahdoot is sharing the considerations she believes buyers should understand before relocating to the state.
Her new Moving to Arizona guide covers the lifestyle, climate, tax environment, communities, and real estate considerations that can shape a relocation decision.
Originally from Ukraine, Ahdoot moved to the United States in 1994 and has lived in the Valley since 2011. Her own experience adapting to a new country and later building a life in Arizona influences how she approaches clients making significant moves of their own.
"I built my reputation on telling clients the truth, even when it's not what they want to hear," Ahdoot said. "Relocating is a very personal decision, and buyers need to understand both the opportunities and the lifestyle changes before making that move."

One of those lifestyle changes is Arizona's summer heat. The guide encourages prospective residents to consider how their daily routines may shift during the hottest months, while also weighing the mild winters and access to outdoor activities throughout much of the rest of the year.
Financial considerations are also addressed. Arizona currently has a flat 2.5% individual income tax rate and does not impose a state estate tax, which may be relevant for high earners, business owners, and individuals comparing potential relocation destinations.
Beyond taxes and climate, the guide looks at what day-to-day life can offer, including golf, hiking, dining, resort amenities, and access to Arizona's desert landscape.
Choosing the right community is another major part of the relocation process. Buyers considering areas such as Paradise Valley and Scottsdale may prioritize very different things, including privacy, acreage, walkability, golf, mountain views, dining, shopping, or access to exclusive properties.
Ahdoot works with both domestic and international relocation clients. She holds the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation and speaks English, Russian, and Ukrainian.
For buyers beginning their research from outside Arizona, her team can also assist with virtual walkthroughs, private property tours, and select off-market opportunities.
The full Moving to Arizona guide provides a starting point for buyers who want a clearer picture of the state before deciding whether the move fits their priorities.
